"中国に慣れていて、中国語が出来る日本人でも、どこかの店等に行った時、まず確認するのが
　トイレがどのレベルか
である。チェックするのは

・物理的に使えるか(鍵が壊れている程度はごく普通)
・掃除されているか、不潔ならどの程度の不潔さか(足を踏み入れられない程度なのはNG)
・水洗式なら、水がちゃんと流れるか
・紙が置いてあるか
・手が洗えるか
・トイレの行き来の間やトイレに危険はないか(共同トイレの場合等は、トイレそのものが妙な溜まり場だったり、経路の途中で身の危険が及ぶこともある。日本でも夜の公園のトイレは危ないのと一緒)

といった項目である。
大体、中国からの留学生が、日本に来る前は
　わたしの故郷の〜という町はとてもキレイです
と胸を張ってたのが、日本に来ると考えが変わっちゃうのは、こうした日本の徹底した衛生環境整備意識にある。"
